How Should The Bucket Be Installed Properly?

The bucket plays a crucial role in the operation of small excavators, and using the right bucket can improve both the quality and efficiency of the work. The installation steps are as follows:

Position the excavator.

Prepare the quick coupler.

Align the bucket.

Secure the bucket.

Test the attachment.

1. Align the pin holes: Align the boom (lower arm) with the bucket connection holes. Ensure the O-ring is seated in the groove before inserting the pin to prevent loosening.

2. Use a guide tool to assist with alignment and avoid forced hammering, which could cause deformation.

3. Secure the pin. After inserting the pin, install the locking bolt and nut. Tighten in two stages to the specified torque (e.g. Caterpillar standards).

Basic tools include wrenches, socket sets and bucket pin removal tools. During installation, ensure that the excavator is stable and that the engine is shut off. Properly align the bucket and lower the boom to secure it. Finally, test the stability.

Regular inspections and maintenance are required after installation to ensure safety and optimal performance.

The excavator's crushing bucket is installed as follows: The crushing bucket is shipped with pre-installed oil port connectors. During installation, simply connect the pipes, connectors and crushing bucket according to the instructions. The required tools are high-pressure hoses, chisels, grease guns, an excavator, a toolbox and a hydraulic breaker. The installation steps are as follows:

Remove the bucket pin bushings.

Apply grease.

Install the chisel rod.

Insert the arm into the ears of the crusher bucket housing.

Assemble the pin bushings.

Connect the hydraulic oil lines.

Open the valves.

Conduct a test run and adjustment. During installation, care must be taken to prevent contamination of the hydraulic lines and internal threaded plugs should be used to seal the pipes.

The bucket can also be installed in reverse.

This is primarily used in special operating conditions, such as cleaning ditches or working at height. 

When installing in reverse, ensure that the pins are securely fastened to prevent dislodgement due to uneven force distribution. 

During operation, pay special attention to the orientation of the bucket teeth to ensure they are opposite to those in the conventional installation. 

This will prevent any adverse effects on the mechanical structure or hydraulic system and achieve the desired operational results.

When installing the bucket in reverse, pay attention to ground flatness and overhead obstacles in the work environment to ensure sufficient operating space, and to avoid safety hazards caused by limited visibility or restricted operation.

Note: replacing the excavator bucket is relatively simple, but safety must be prioritised. Buckets are prone to wear and tear, especially in harsh environments such as quarries or mines, so caution is required during replacement. Novices attempting replacement alone may find it time-consuming and labour-intensive, with a risk of injury. It is therefore recommended that the replacement is performed under the supervision of an experienced individual. The replacement steps include using a hammer to strike the pin and ensuring you wear safety goggles, a hard hat and gloves to prevent metal shavings from entering your eyes. You should also maintain safety during disassembly by avoiding placing your feet or body parts beneath the bucket and avoid inserting your fingers into the pin holes when aligning them. Installation requires two people to work together to ensure clear communication. Follow the reverse order of disassembly, install the O-ring and apply grease, ensuring that the seal is not damaged. Although the replacement process is not difficult, careful operation is required to avoid accidents.
