Sawing machine cutting in bucket tooth processing is a crucial blanking procedure, mainly used for the precise division of steel billets. The key points of its process are as follows:


I. Core Process Requirements


Blank cutting accuracy control ‌


The sawing machine cutting must ensure that the length tolerance is ≤±0.5mm and the verticality of the cross-section is ≤0.1mm/100mm, providing a dimensional reference for subsequent forging.

When cutting alloy structural steel (such as 40CrMnMo), the heat-affected zone should be avoided, and the coolant flow rate should be ≥15L/min to prevent material hardening.


The sawtooth performance is selected as ‌


Tungsten-cobalt type hard alloy saw teeth (such as YG8) are adopted, with a rake Angle γ of 10° to 15° to enhance the cutting sharpness, and the bending strength should be ≥3500MPa.

The sawtooth thickness is 1.0 to 1.2mm, taking into account both strength and chip removal efficiency. When cutting Q500MC high-strength steel, the linear speed is controlled at 25 to 40m/min.


Application of automation equipment ‌


The CNC sawing machine is equipped with a servo control system, with a stroke positioning accuracy of ±0.02mm, and can automatically adapt to billets of different diameters (φ50 to 200mm).

Integrated pneumatic clamping device, with a clamping force of ≥5 tons, prevents cross-sectional skewing caused by cutting vibration.

Ii. Connection of Supporting processes

Process ‌ ‌ sawing post-treatment requirements ‌ ‌ purpose ‌

The edges and corners are blunted. The R Angle of all cutting surfaces should be ≥0.5mm to eliminate the source of forging stress concentration

Magnetic particle testing for defect detection examines cross-sectional cracks and eliminates internal defects of ≥0.1mm

The weight difference of the billet weighing groups within the same batch should be ≤±0.5% to ensure the uniformity of die forging filling

Iii. Material Compatibility Cases

High-strength steel cutting ‌ : Special cooling oil is required for sawing Q500MC steel plates (25mm thickness), with a unit price of approximately ¥4800 per ton.

Weathering steel cutting ‌ : Q295NH steel plate is cut by laser combined sawing, with a cross-sectional roughness Ra≤12.5μm, and the unit price is ¥4,650-4,768 per ton.


Operation prompt ‌ : after cutting, the forging process must be transferred within 24 hours to prevent the thickening of the oxide layer at the cut edge from affecting the quality of the forging.
