How to choose the right side teeth for construction machinery

1. The selection of tooth profile is based on the working conditions

Straight tooth type ‌ : The tooth top is straight and the tooth grooves are uniform. It is suitable for loose soil and low-impact operations (such as sand excavation).

Conical tooth type ‌ : The tooth root gradually shrinks towards the top into a wedge shape, with strong cutting force, suitable for medium-hardness soil and rock or frozen soil conditions (such as mine crushed stone).

Compound tooth profile ‌ (helical/herringbone) :

The helical tooth design reduces meshing impact, extends service life and is suitable for high-frequency operation equipment (such as continuous loading and unloading of loaders).

Herringbone teeth counteract axial forces and enhance the stability of large equipment (such as the PC400 excavator).

Ii. Size parameter matching equipment

Tooth root opening size ‌ :

Light-load equipment (such as PC60) : 2.0mm tooth root opening;

Medium and large-sized equipment (such as PC200) : 4.0mm standard opening;

Ultra-heavy-duty equipment (such as mine PC400) : 6.0mm reinforced opening.

Tooth length and thickness optimization ‌ :

Extended extra-sharp teeth (with a 20% increase in tooth length) enhance the efficiency of hard rock cutting (Sany SY series);

Thickened wear-resistant teeth (with a 15% thickening of the tooth back) enhance the bending strength (XCMG 955 model).

Iii. Priority of Craftsmanship and Materials

Forging process ‌ : high-temperature extrusion forming, grain refinement, better impact resistance and wear resistance than casting (service life increased by more than 30%).

Surface strengthening technology ‌ :

Diamond reinforced teeth: Superhard alloy cladding surface layer, wear resistance increased by 40% (applicable to mine crushed stones);

Carburizing and quenching treatment: Enhance the hardness of the tooth surface (such as 20CrMnTi material), and withstand contact stress of 1500MPa.
